I just saw JP3 and the only thing I can say is wow. In this case wow expresses how amazingly dissapointed I was.
I love the original JP, own it on DVD, VHS, Book, I love it. TLW on the other hand is pretty horrible, JP3 falls closer to TLW between these two in my opinion.
Why? You don't have to look far, within the first ten minutes we are treated with not one but several of the most horrible pathetic green screen shots as eric parasails above the island. What the hell happened tyo the boat anyways? the pteradactyls (whatever the hell they were) were supposedly still trapped in the aviary. From there out it just gets worse. Why didn't Eric cut the other guy out of the parachute? Why hadn't the dino's gotten him? Eric throws a human skull at the baby dino birds where the hell did that come from? Why did the satellite phone work all along but when they finally retrieved it (as if that could happen) why were the batteries all the sudden so low? And how did they hear the phone inside the dino? It would have been buried in stomach acid, that should have ruined it if it hadn't already been crushed when the spino ate it. HOw come they could fly in on JP# but they had to land with helicopters in TLW..Same island. How the hell did Ellie know 1. where grant was 2. to send help and 3. What was up with the Barney thing? How the hell did billy survive? How was he found? How was the food in the vending machines still good? What was up with the guy using the flashlight to power the camcorder, not to many camcorders take D-cell batteries dumbass. what was up with Grants dream? Why would they knock him out in the plane? Were they really worried that he would take control of the plane and fly out of there? Why would the army come help Grant and crew but not come rescue eric? And how did they get on the island so easily? Better yet how could the "Dino Soar" Parasailing boat get so close? whouldn't there have been one hell of a huge perimeter around the entire thing? For being smarter than humans the Raptors sure did some stupid things such as being fooled by the help call. And for being a 'prototype' that call worked astoundingly well. How come the first expedition to sorna (TLW) saw no spino, no aviary (They had the entire area mapped remember?) It was too damn short, they tried to cram too much movie into to little time, It's obvious that they were nowhere near prepared to tackle such a big project. They didn't have enough time and they didn't have enough leadership experience in Johnson the acting was horrible (Except for neil), the casting was all wrong, should I go on? It's not hard to see why spielberg had nearly nothing to do with this movie. and I now see where Macy's "ship without a rudder" comment was based. I only feel sorry for Sam Neil who probably wishes he would have steered clear of this movie when he had the chance. And the ending sucked. I could go on...
I still think it was better than TLW. And it was nice to see some of the elements used in JP3 that were in the original book and not the movie (such as the aviary Scene).
It is worth the ticket price but don't expect much, it's no comparison to the original but nothing ever will be
Different but it was well done.

Let me start out by saying that Jurassic Park III was different from the first two films in the series. By giving Joe Johnston the directing job, the movie did not feel like it had any relation with Spielberg. JP3 paid more attention to the action-packed thrill ride exerprience rather than a mixture of action and evolving plot scenes which may add more time to a film.
The CGI and animatronic scenes were much improved in the film by giving each dinosaur and new look and feel. The Spinosaurus was extremely well done. It was nice to see a new main dinosaur rather than the t-rex.
JP3 contained a lot of humorous lines which gave me a chuckle or so. I am one who loves to laugh, so I felt comfortable watching the movie.
Finally, Jurassic Park III was an overall good film which gave a little twist to the series and I hope that Spielberg goes on with a forth.
JP3 = Garbage

You're pretty dumb if you think JP3 was better than TLW.
You're a pure retard if you think JP3 was better than the original JP.
Plot holes GALORE, horrible dialouge, awful humor, and bad acting by almost all of the actors (Neill and Nivola were the exceptions).
All of the Kirbys were extremely annoying throughout the entire film.
The robot spino look completely fake during the plane crash scene.
Grant's dream was absolutely retared and had no place in the film.
Did I mention plot holes?
The vending machine scene was the only thing funny in the film (besides the horrible acting).
The SATELLITE (not cellular retards!)phone prank was stupid.
The barney thing ruined the spino/boat scene.
Laura Derns hair was awful.
I could think of more if I had the time.
The only thing that saved this film was the avairy scene and the raptors. Every thing else was pretty much crap. If i were Michael Crichton, I would be ashamed of what I let happen to this once great series.
I loved JP. I loved TLW. I saw them both the days they came out. But this movie is undeserving of the title Jurassic Park. Good action, but horrible everything else.
JP3 = best movie of '01!!!!

I saw Jurassic Park around '96, 3 years after it came out. I loved it. I saw Lost World the day it came out, and was rather disappointed.
I saw Jurassic Park 3...and, well...it was a good movie. Intense action, and good acting done by Macy {Paul Kirby}, Neill{Dr. Alan Grant}, and Nivola{Billy Brennan}, good CGI, an okay plot. There were many pro's about the movie, but there were also some cons.
The biggest mistake was having a new director. Joe Johnston didnt have what it took to make the movie ANYTHING like the others. And it was too short. An hour shorter then the others, and there was a perfect opprotunity for more time! Ankylosaurus and Ceratosaurus should have done more. The fight between T-Rex and the Spinosaurus should have been longer, and more intense. And the raptors? Cool new look. But what gets me is...they were smart enough to use Udesky as a trap, but not smart enough to know that the call for help was fake and coming from right in front of them. Then they grab the eggs and run? Velociraptors are supposed to be vicious! And if they were intelligent, they could have sent half the pack to help the fake call, while the other half attacked. I also didnt like how they didnt explain anything. Like why the raptors changed their look, or how Billy could possible survive with mad insane reptile-bird things trying to kill you, or where they found him.
All in all, the film was okay. Rushed, but okay. I give it 2 and a half stars.
It's no Spielberg...

I just had an interesting Saturday - a few friends came over and we watched the first two Jurassic Park films; then we went to the theare to see the new one. I can't stress this enough- I LOVE THE FIRST TWO FILMS. They are both amazing, in plot and special fx. They are easily two of the all time best movies ever made (Austin Powers is also on my best movies list). I had high expectations for JP3 after reading all about it on dansjp3page.com and cinemaconfidential.com. I was always up to date and read every review posted online (except the ones on this page by fellow fans - sorry...). Anyway, JP3 WAS A GIP. It was way too short and relied on what "has been" in the origonal. If the scenes were longer it would have been better. Also, there is no explination as to how the people in The Lost World confronted different dinos than in this film if they are on the same island. Aside from all that, the major blow to my love for the movie was (drum roll please) the END. The movie suddenly ended, only very shortly after it began. It is unbelievable how Dr. Grant calls Dr. Saddler, her kid answers, he pretends to be a dino in front of mommy, and BANG - suddenly, she knows that the same Army who refused to rescue the child (Eric) would go to Isla Sorna even though Ellie only knew of Nublar. The army is so efficient that it arrives only like 5 minutes after the phone call. This ending left a sour taste in my mouth - i looked at my friends and they looked at me; we said to each other, "that's all?" What a gip - it makes the first two movies seem worse as well simply because it is affiliated with them. At the end of the movie, it says, "Directed by Joe Johnson". Then it all became clear... ~~~~~I really wanted to like this movie~~~~~

I saw the first Jurassic Park when i was 13 years old fell in love with that movie, saw The Lost World when i was 17 thought it was a good movie but needed that "special something" that was missing. And i recently on friday saw the third installment of the Jurassic Park series i barely ever go to the movies and this was my first trilogy in the theatres. I'm now 21. I thought the movie basically kicked butt. It weas extremely entertaining, the computer animations were very well done and looked really realistic, i loved the colorization of the alosaurus in the movie very nice. Plot was good. Cast was excellent very happy to see Dr. Grant added again. The ONLY bad parts about the movie would be i wished the T-Rex, Spinosaur sequence was longer and the T-rex would've won. Second the ending definetly could have been better! overall a very entertaining fun movie to see, I recommend it highly.

Well, after years of waiting for the 3rd in the series, I'm pleased to say that it's not to disapoint. While the reviews, and some of my friends say that it's crappy, I can tell you that it's not true. The only bad thing is that you only get to see the REX for 1 minute, but the spinosaurus kinda makes up for him. One of the best things is that it's full of humor, so it delivers some very intense moments yet keeps you laughing. I still think that "Jurassic Park" is the best of the 3, but "JP3" earns the 2nd spot in my opinion. I do hate that Dr. Sattler, and Dr. Grant aren't married (they're friends. bummer). Ah hell, just go see it and you'll see that the money wasn't wasted like it was with Tomb Raider. I can't wait for it to come out on DVD. I await JP4 more than I await SW:EP2 or 3.
Jurassic Park 3 the adventure lives on

I have awaited the arrival of this movie for amost a year now an I'm no dissapointed. This movie was one amazing action sequence after another and the dinosaurs look even more ferocious and dangerous than ever. Viewers were able to see some of their old favorite dinos plus a few new ones including the gigantic Spinosaurus who proved to be more than a match for the Tyranosaurus.
Unfortanatly the movie was only about 90 minutes long and left the audiance begging for more. The ending was also less dramatic than the first two and the fatality rate was lower. The battle between the T-rex and Spino was less than a minute long and the T-rex plus the Velociraptors were sadly rarely seen.
Jurassic Park 3 has its fair share of problems like all movies but still does what it was made to do. It entertains, and it seems that Universal Studios is hoping to make a new Jurassic Park. If they do I hope we see the raptors, rexs play a larger role. On the topic of dino-news, two new carnivors have been found that are bigger than the T-rex. The Giganotosaurus and the Carcharodontosaurus, although their actual size has not been determined mabye they will make an apperance in a new JP.
